PETITION OF CITIZENS OF SEBASTAPOL SCHOOL DISTRICt FOR CHANGE OF
BOUNDARY LINE-

To The School
Superintendent of the County of Mariposa, State of California
The undersigned petitioners
respectfully represent and petition as
follows, viz:
Township Number Three, of said County
of Mariposa, and reside,
more than ten miles from any district school house, accept that of
Sebastapol District some of us ______ the boundaries of Sebastapol
School District, as defined and still existing by ______ of an order of
the Board of Supervisors of said County, Creating and defining the
boundaries of said school district, made and entered on the 4th day of
February, 1863, and the rest of us residing near to, and upon the
Eastern by Northeasterly borders of said school district, but without
the boundaries ______.
No school district exists or has been
ever formed in said County the to
the Eastward or Northward of said Sebastapol School District.
There are about fifteen census
school children, mostly the children of
some of your said petitioners, residing without the boundaries of said
school district, and in the Easterly and Northward borders, and
entitled to be admitted in to the public schools of said state, who
reside in no school district, and not within from ten to fifteen of any
other school house than the school house of said Sebastapol School
District, and who are nearer to and could more conveniently attend
school at the school house in said School District district than at any
other, and who, in fact are, and if not authorized by the granting of
this petition to attend the school of said school district, must
con____ to be debarred from and deprived of all public school
facilities and privileges whatever except the privilege of being
enrolled by the Census Marshall of said District and drawing money from
the State for the support of the Public School of said Sebastapol
District, which they are not entitled to attend.
The average attendance of
pupils a the public schools of said
Sebastapol School district does not exceed fifteen pupils, and said
school would not be inf___, but would be benefited by the addition of
each of the children ____, residing ____ the Easterly and
Northeasterly boundaries of said School District, as would attend, if
entitled.
_____we ask that the boundaries of
said Sebastapol School District may
be changed, so that said District shall be bounded as follows: viz
Beginning at the South easterly angle
of the Ranch of David Clark on
Bear Creek; then running to and along the crest of the divide between
the waters of Stockton and ________ Creek; thence to
Big Springs on Australian Gulch; thence to the old Becknell Ranch,
from ___ by John Milburn) thence to Bloed's Ranch; then due east
to the boundary line between Mariposa and Fresno Counties; thence
Northerly along said County boundary line to a point due east
from the northside of S. L. Hogans Ranch thence to the northerly
boundary of the Ranch of John Higman, known as the Laird Ranch; then to
the Northeasterly angle of J W Snyders Ranch. Then to the place of the
beginning.
