"Formerly called Darrah, and also known as Snow Creek, in Mariposa county, 10
miles NE of Mariposa, the county seat, and 57 via mail route northeast of
Merced, the nearest shipping and banking point. The village has a Methodist
church, saw and quartz mills, several mines, and 200 inhabitants. Exp WF.
Mail stages, semi-weekly to Mariposa, fare $1.50. Mrs Annie Brinham,
postmaster."
